![]() Our students become motivated learners – the best route to success in academics and beyond. UCMAS demands self-discipline and promotes the joy of lifelong learning and self-discovery. These are crucial life skills that students will use again and again. Students learn to focus for sustained periods, manage their time while completing long series of sums, as well as, to concentrate on more than one task at the same time. Attaining astonishing calculation speed is actually the end result of increasing “brain-fitness”. Over time, our students come to love a subject they may have once struggled with, or even feared. By mastering these techniques using the abacus, students develop the ability to think in pictures and quickly learn to perform large calculations mentally. Our whole-brain development program builds foundational techniques that make learning math, effortless and enjoyable. We Start Developing Your Child’s Math Muscles Early On!Īt UCMAS, developing a lifelong love of learning in our students is our passion and hence we don’t just tutor, we aim to inspire our students. These activities help children enhance their visual learning style. At UCMAS we conduct various activities with flashcards, which are bead representations of numbers. The ongoing use of the physical abacus helps students visualize the beads of the abacus, hence giving them a gift of Mental Math. Visual Learning Style: Visual learners are those who learn and understand better through visual aid or by seeing and observing things. Thus strengthening their auditory style of learning. ![]() In addition to listening and writing, jumbled dictations also help auditory learners. In the UCMAS program, students calculate by listening to numbers at extremely high speeds. Auditory Learning Style: Auditory learners are those who learn best through hearing.Other activities like the types of speed writing facilitate this type of learning. The UCMAS program focuses on the physical use of the abacus for representing and calculating numbers. Tactile/ Kinaesthetic Learning Style: Tactile/ Kinaesthetic learners learn best when they can use their sense of touch using physical objects or body movement.Children generally have a pre-dominant style of learning but at UCMAS we enhance each learning style, which not only enhances their dominant style but also develops their less dominant style of learning. Learning activities in a UCMAS class help children develop their Kinaesthetic, Auditory and Visual learning styles. It’s all nature’s way of ensuring that the brain ultimately splits up tasks to maximize efficiency. The brain carefully balances and assigns control of certain functions to each side. In the UCMAS program, children are trained on arithmetic operations and formulas which are stored in their logical side of the brain, and while doing mental math, they convert the logical numerical representation of numbers into bead images utilizing their visual side of the brain and retrieving formulas which are stored in their logical brain, thus developing both the logical and creative functions of the brain simultaneously. The left/logical side of the brain governs different functions related to number, text, sequencing, formula, and analytical interpretation, whereas the right/visual side of the brain governs functions like face recognition, spatial memory, power of estimation and comparison, processing of tunes/ music etc. They show overall improved performance in their academics. The human brain is functionally divided into 2 hemispheres, the logical side and the visual side. With these benefits, abacus learners scored higher than non-abacus learners. - develops a Photographic memory & flawless recall.- enables logical thinking and reasoning. To summarize the benefits of learning Abacus, It It facilitates "The whole-brain" functioning and helps in added intellect. This use of both hands activates the sensors of the brain. When children work on an abacus, they use both hands to move the beads. "Starting abacus learning at a very young age, is useful in activating the brain of kids," says Dr Toshio Hayashi, former Director, Research Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. Math Genie is a Whole Brain Math Program that will unleash the Genius your child was born to be. Decimal places & calculating sums having negative numbers are also possible. One can perform Basic operations like Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division on an Abacus instrument. They also learn to solve sums of decimal places and those with negative numbers. ![]() Training of Abacus for kids helps them solve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division sums on an Abacus. Studies also confirmed that the effect of abacus training was best seen in kids between 5 to 14 years of age. Abacus Math is a process when the Abacus tool is used for performing arithmetic calculations. With students exhibiting mesmerizing Mental Math skills at great speed and accuracy, acceptance of the Abacus strengthened further. The Abacus training system is now an accepted 'Holistic Brain Development System'.
